Passopisciaro Contrada P (Porcaria)

Contrada Porcaria is the contrada where the Nerello Mascalese shows off its deepest colour. The fruit has darker notes, the spices look towards the Orient and the structure is impressive.

The soil at Porcaria is a thin layer of lava which crumbles under one’s feet and the vines are almost 90 years of age. The exposition to the sun here is perfect and it is always the first contrada to be picked.
