Tenuta di Trinoro Tenuta di Trinoro 2014

Tasting notes
In 2014 we had a rainy and warm winter. In spring, budding came early, on April 9th, and very early flowering started extending uniformly through the vineyards from May 15th with fast colouring of berries in all the vineyards during the last days of July. We had a sunny second half of September and we started picking Merlot from early-ripening blocks on the September 29th. The last grapes, Petit Verdot, were picked on October 28th. The grapes from the various plots of this vintage show very different characteristics in terms of concentration, aromatics and acidity. It was very interesting to blend this vintage, which presents itself with equal parts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc and equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
The 2014 Tenuta di Trinoro is a wine that evokes a mountain forest and swells with motion under a glossy, black cover. (Andrea Francetti)
Pairings
Savoury pasta and risotto dishes, red meet, game and seasoned cheeses.
Why we like it
2014 is by many considered a minor vintage in Tuscany, but the unique microclimate and the special conformation of our land, together with the various altitudes of our vineyards have permitted us to craft a wine which expressed the potential of this cool vintage to the fullest. The elegance and vibrant energy this vintage shows in the glass today is something extraordinary.
